Briancon has been visited by the Tour de France 22 times since 1947. Three ‘Hors-Catégorie’ climbs are accessible from the Briancon centre (Col du Galibier, Col de l’Izoard, Col du Granon). "Other cols in the immediate vicinity are the Col de Montgenèvre, the Col du Lautaret, and the Col de l’Echelle. Briancon boasts many lakes with beaches, boats, fishing, kite boarding, fun and sun. There is the Lac Serre Poncon for boats, and kite boarding, La Roche de Rame for sunbathing and jumping out of trees, Lac orecchiette for BBQs.
Dress up and Fight in Armour at the Medieval Festival in Briancon - July 2nd and 3rd. Fun for all the family and a bit of history and shopping in there too.
For major summer holidays the fireworks light up the sky and bangs echo around the valley. Look out for July 14th, and August 15th.
