The area’s white water rafting activities are centred on Pontillas Lake and La Guisane River in Salle Les Alpes, just 8km or so from Briancon. Using the safety equipment provided, take to the rapids as a family, group of friends, individual, or corporate group and enjoy the beauty of the Alps in the summer months.
With approximately 300 days of sunshine per year, Briancon in Serre Chevalier is primed for outdoor activities. A day spent on the water offers one of the best experiences available in the region, showcasing the verdant countryside and towering mountain landscapes.
Participants are given a safety brief prior to taking to the water and all equipment is included in the initial rental cost. There are a number of different courses – most of which are located between Casset and Briancon.
Guests can park at designated rafting bases, and are usually transported to the starting point up the river. Open to beginners, the only requirement for rafting in Briancon, Serre Chevalier, is that participants are at least 7 years of age and can swim sufficiently. As well as rafting, visitors can try their hands at canoeing, kayaking, pedalos, and hydrospeed – a kind of inflatable body board.
